Flood is considered to be the largest natural disaster risk in Malaysia and it is expected to increase more due to various extreme weathers. A commonly related topic debated about when it comes to managing flood is the flood insurance scheme. The interest in flood insurance arises from the pursuit to find an efficient way of compensating those who suffer losses and to manage the financial risk of uncertain losses. Without insurance, many activities and processes would be deemed too risky and would not be undertaken and those affected by a loss might struggle to recover. Thus, this book will focus on the properties’ coverage for the lower income group (the poor) by proposing a stand-alone (single peril) flood takaful scheme. This could be considered as a micro-takaful product to cover the poor community. This book consists of eight chapters.
